Elba Morales Goostree was born and raised in the Bay Area. She is passionate about the intersections of social and racial justice, religion, feminism, and the flourishing of the LGBTQ community in both social and religious spheres. She is a member of the Latinx Roundtable from the Center of LGBTQ and Gender Studies in Religion in Berkeley, on the advisory board for ALDES (a volunteer-led organization that advocates for LGBTQ rights in El Salvador), on the board of directors for the Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County, and on the board of directors for the recently launched Oakland LGBTQ Center.
She holds her BA from Patten University in Oakland and a Master of Arts in Systematic and Philosophical Theology from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. Elba is a Director of Development for a mid-sized non-profit organization that provides permanent supportive affordable housing in Contra Costa County.
She also enjoys the Oakland Raiders, pretzels, stand up comedy, cooking, and Harry Potter. Elba lives in Oakland with her spouse, dog, and several succulents.
